[caption id="attachment_896" align="alignleft" width="300"]Nexia uses Z-wave technology The Nexia Bridge is a capable Z-wave controller.[/caption]

Z-Wave is an old standard for home automation, going back to a couple decades into the last century. There are currently over 1000 separate products available for Z-Wave, from hundreds of companies, which are widely accepted in areas such as smart home security, smart door lock, a variety of sensors, irrigation systems, smart this, smart that – smart everything.

Z-Wave’s key strength is that it is a mesh system, meaning the more Z-Wave products you have in your home, the more bullet-proof your network becomes – the very opposite of WiFi. Z-Wave had its beginning in home security, and this has remained their strongest suit since.
