Welcome the two newest additions to the Belkin Wemo product lineup, the Wemo Dimmer and the Wemo Mini, a smart plug solution. Belkin’s Wemo line seeks to provide home automation users with an easy-to-use integrated smart home system. Personal Assistant users rejoice – the Wemo Dimmer works with the Google Home and Amazon Echo using simple voice commands. But that’s not all these new products in the Wemo line have to offer.
In addition to being able to turn off the switches from anywhere with a WiFi signal, Belkin has introduced a “long pressing” feature. This feature allows the user to turn on or off multiple Wemo-connected devices via one Wemo device, such as the Wemo Mini or the Wemo Dimmer, simply by pressing and holding the switch for more than two seconds.
This press and hold action triggers the reaction between the device you’re pressing on and your other Wemo devices. Belkin boasts that long pressing can trigger an away mode for all of your Wemo gadgets or simply turn off every Wemo device with just the one action. This makes for a totally convenient power-saving strategy, though Belkin Wemo products don’t tend to use very much electricity at all.
