While Bang & Olufsen is regarded as producing high-end sound quality in their speakers, they are legendary for their unique styling (as you can see). It is this combination that makes their product line truly remarkable. CEDIA 2023 saw demos of several of Bang & Olufsen’s smart products, from outdoor speakers to a home theater soundbar that can accompany any TV, turning ordinary entertainment into an extraordinary, immersive home theater experience.
Our editor, Art Feierman, got to see three of the products on display at CEDIA 2023: the Beosound Bollard Outdoor Speaker, the Beolab 8, and the Beosound Theatre Soundbar. This article highlights those three products, and provides a short demo video from CEDIA 2023.
The Beosound Bollard Outdoor Speaker

- Black

The Beosound Bollard is an all-weather smart outdoor speaker with 360-degree sound, designed to integrate into your home’s landscaping. Whether you’re looking for a front yard or backyard solution (or both), the Beosound Bollard is a powerful speaker to consider.
Made in partnership with Origin Acoustics, this outdoor smart speaker contains three drivers and a 360-degree silicone lens. Just two of the Beosound Bollard speakers paired together are capable of producing some stellar sound, with deep bass and crisp high-end frequencies, loud enough for a large gathering in a sizable backyard. They certainly had enough volume to overcome the crowd’s noise at CEDIA this year!
The subwoofer of the Beosound Bollard is buried in the ground, and the only part that sticks out is the attractive Bollard casing itself, which comes in the color and shape of your choosing. The pricing is for a pair, but the Beosound Bollard system can be expanded out to your liking and your environment’s needs. You can currently experience the Beosound Bollard in a store near you, so check out the manufacturer’s site to find out about licensed dealers.
The Beolab 8 Speaker (Wired or Wireless)
Price: $6,598 (For a Pair)
Colors:
- Natural Aluminum, Oak Cover, Table Stand
- Natural Aluminum, Grey Melange Cover, Table Stand
- Gold Tone, Light Oak Cover, Table Stand
- Black Anthracite, Dark Oak Cover, Table Stand
The Beolab 8 is designed to be a standalone speaker as a stereoscopic experience. It can be mounted in a myriad of ways. This luxury, high-fidelity speaker can sit on a table top, it can be floor mounted, ceiling mounted, or wall mounted. The Beolab 8 is compatible with the Beosound Theatre Soundbar, and you can pair two (as seen in the demo video below), four, or more speakers to give your theater setup the ultimate surround sound experience.
This Bluetooth speaker has three drivers to deliver premium quality sound with a 16mm tweeter, a 3” midrange, and a 5.25” woofer. The speaker has beam width control in two modes, which you can see on the LED on the speaker’s front, and that feature allows you to optimize audio to your liking. Either narrow down the beam to find your sweet spot or diffuse the sound throughout the listening space.
The Beolab 8 has acoustic room mapping, another feature that optimizes audio performance, and adaptive tuning. Adaptive tuning uses built-in sensors to fine-tune the sound by detecting the front cover of the speaker. There’s also “sweet spot location,” which uses your phone’s location and ultrawide band technology to detect your specific sweet spot for listening. This is done via the Bang & Olufsen app. It connects via Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6, and Powerlink.
The Beolab 8 speaker is so new, it’s not even available yet. It will be available on October 30, 2023.
The Beosound Theatre Soundbar
Price: $10,490 (Soundbar Only), $13,975 (Soundbar + TV)
Colors:
- Natural, Oak
- Natural, Grey Melange
- Gold Tone, Light Oak
- Black Anthracite, Dark Oak
The Beosound Theatre Soundbar brings Dolby Atmos spatial sound to your living room for a cinematic surround sound experience, in a soundbar. It is made to fit any TV, and can be purchased as a standalone soundbar or with an LG TV in three sizes: 55”, 65”, or 75”. The design eliminates the need for black boxes or cable management, and delivers big sound in a sleek setup. The Beosound Theatre can be mounted on a wall or on the floor.
The soundbar features a coaxial center channel and twelve custom drivers to direct sound to the sides, above, and below the screen. The software of the Beosound Theatre Soundbar is updatable, so you don’t need to replace the soundbar when it gets outdated. Since the soundbar is modular, when you’re ready for a larger screen, you can simply slot one in, and don’t need to get a whole new system when that time comes. If your decor style changes, you can also change the oak or fabric covers. That price is starting to make a whole lot of sense now, right?
The glass touch panel, which lights up when you’re nearby, allows you to pair with a Bluetooth device, such as your phone, tablet, or other Bluetooth speakers, select your presets, and play music. You can play that music even when the TV is off, the Beosound Theatre Soundbar can be a hub for your music via Beolink, Chromecast, Spotify Connect and Airplay.
