Matter Sweeps the Show Floor at CES 2023

10 Matter-Compatible Smart Home Products and Trends Announced at CES

by Nikki Kahl
January 12, 2023
Matter Sweeps the Show Floor at CES 2023

Matter, the new open-sourced standard from the Connectivity Standards Alliance, swept the show floor of CES 2023 with panels and manufacturers supporting the innovative initiative. Manufacturers of smart devices and ecosystems that partner with Matter are breaking down barriers to interoperability, allowing consumers cross-compatibility where previously there were only walls. While open-sourced protocols aren’t new (Zigbee), Matter is being adopted on a large scale, with over 200 companies including Amazon, Google, and Samsung, at the forefront.

At CES 2023, well over two dozen companies displayed or spoke about devices that are or will be Matter-compatible in their lineups, and we can expect the momentum to expand over the coming year. “Make no mistake, this is an inflection point for technology. This year, Matter will both signal the end of walled gardens in the smart home and open the field for better experiences by any manufacturer, supported by a global, secure, and open standard for interoperability,” said Tobin Richardson, CEO of the Connectivity Standards Alliance.
