The Notifi mobile app gives you the power to interact with whomever is at your door. You can instantly take pictures or start recording a video. You can also control the Notifi bulb. Turing it off or on. The Notifi app will deliver push notifications each time someone presses the doorbell button. Allowing you to answer the door even if you are not home. If you think you hear something, or just want to see whats going on, you can open the app and view a live stream at anytime. The notification doesn’t happen without a push of the button, unless you are a premium user. More on that later in the review.
[sam_pro id=”1_15″ codes=”true”]Like most home automation pieces, setting up the Notifi video doorbell system follows a similar procedure. Hook up the hardware, load up the app and configure the device. As I noted on the prior page, hooking up the hardware was easy. Very simple installation. The Notifi mobile app was similar.
Notifi Mobile app setup
As with most devices these days you need to create an account. So I entered my information and clicked register. As you are building your home automation, use secure passwords. I also hope you do not use the same password that you may use for your financial institutions. All of this information is out in the cloud. If a company should have a data breach, its best to make sure your exposure is limited.
Once you create an account, the setup begins. I was not impressed by the setup procedure. There are so many great home automation apps out there that do most of the work for you. When I was prompted with the initial screen, there was a summary of the steps I needed to take to start. It was a little underwhelming. The Notifi app prompts you to add your mobile device to the Notifi wireless network to start the setup process. With the Notifi name in the wireless network SSID, it would be easy to automate this process. I would have much rather the app connected me automatically and kicked off the setup process. Making it that much easier for the average user.
The rest of the setup was pretty straight forward. Please take a look at the screenshots below. I wanted to provide a walk through of the setup process. You can see the initial steps involved after the hardware is all setup. Its good to evaluate the software included in a solution. It is the software that brings all the hardware together.
