5G Home Internet Is Here. And, So Are Streaming Services with “Cable Like” 100 channel line-ups, Including Local Networks. That’s great, Because I’ve had it with cable!
Not everything about Streaming is better than Satellite or Cable. And not everyone can replace cable internet access with 5G, but I and millions of others are doing just that. Here’s how that’s been working out for me, and might, for you.

This whole article is long enough, you may wish to jump around:
So far, So good, So far, so good,… (that’s what they say the guy who fell off the top of the Empire State Building was heard saying all the way down.)
Because that’s the truth. So far, we’re happy here. But I fear two or three potential difficulties down the road:
- Download (and Upload) speeds could continue to drop, which means T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet may become too slow to support 2-3 4K UHD sources – along with the usual computer/phone/tablet data.
- Gaming – may be a problem for those looking for a fast – and low latency connection. It would seem that already in my area, latency is running 30-80ms – which for hard core gamers is merely “good” to “marginal.”
- I’m sure I’ll figure out several more concerns as I continue to explore using this combination
Expect a follow up article from me, describing the new experience after a few more weeks of use, and, I’ll provide a final update as to how much money I’m saving. Also expect an updated look as to the performance and overall experience..
I have great expectations, but then I am almost always optimistic. Let’s see if Google/YouTube and T-Mobile will continue to prove me right. (T-Mobile definitely need to keep their speeds acceptable!)
Where did I leave those “cable clippers” anyway?
Thanks for visiting! And stay tuned for more – I will return, one focus will look at the differences and quirks of streaming (ie YouTube TV), vs the way cable and satellite work. -art
