Last page I mentioned that you can use Lightify’s own app if you are using the Lightify Gateway, but if you also have a WeMo Link, a Wink or Wink 2, or some other hubs, you don’t need the Lightify App. Just remember none of those other options will offer all the features that the Lightify App has, because those others have general apps designed to support a great many different types of devices.
At the bottom of this page, we have an image player loaded with all the important screens in the Lightify App, along with commentary. That section will give you a great idea of all the capabilities, although I must admit, we didn’t get to every last feature.

Just to give you a taste at how much they can differ, consider the WeMo option. With WeMo, the App let’s you dial in any color you want, but you can’t save colors or scenes, other than the ability of the app when turning on the lights again, to start up with the same colors and brightness from the last time they were on. The Lightify App also lets you save dozens and dozens of color and brightness and saturation combinations, that can be recalled with a single tap.
None of that can be done by the WeMo app. I haven’t worked with the Wink/Wink2, which can directly control Lightify, but again, you should expect less flexible control than the manufacturer’s own app, working in conjunction with their “hub/controller” in this case, called the Lightify Gateway. That’s because the manufacturer will want to offer you just about every capability the lighting can do. Other apps tend to be more general. They’ll have support for basic color lighting, and more, but the omissions will likely be very significant.
