Lockly may not be a household name like Yale or Schlage—yet—but it is a smart lock brand worth looking at if you’re in the market for securing your home’s doors. Lockly is a smart lock brand that came out of Silicon Valley, with a product line that was created using decades of successful international high-tech production and development experience. The company brings advanced features like their patented PIN Genie technology and 3D biometric fingerprint scanner to homeowners, smart rentals, builder/developers, and smart hotels.
Security is Top of Mind for Lockly
Security is of the utmost importance to Lockly. All their smart locks are protected using 128-bit encryption, which is a well-respected technique used by many of today’s top IoT-connected devices. Lockly continually innovates and upgrades its property cloud technology services, backed by Amazon Web Services (AWS), to defy picking, bumping, hacking, and other typical lock break-in techniques.
Top 3 Smart Locks from Lockly

Expected Value: 4 Stars

Pros
- 3D Biometric Fingerprint sensor for the ultimate secure keyless entry
- Multiple options for keyless entry
- Doesn’t require internet to be used (with Offline Access codes)
Cons
- No Alexa and Google Assistant voice control – keeps things simple
- It’s bulky and some door orientations make it difficult to install, so make sure you buy the correct Left or Right Fingerprint Reader for your particular door
- Under extreme direct sunlight, there are reports that the keypad may not work so consider this possibility if your home faces direct sunlight (the app will still work to unlock)—this con may be true for all Lockly locks, see bottom paragraph in this section for details
The Peek-Proof Lockly Secure Plus is the entry-level version of these three locks, providing a smart, secure experience for homeowners at a low cost. The lock comes in Satin Nickel, Matte Black, and Venetian Bronze. It’s available in the Deadbolt and Latch designs, for $249.99 and $269.99. Both types have the option to go with either a Right Fingerprint Reader or a Left Fingerprint Reader.
Using the Lockly app, you can control your lock from anywhere. Lock it, unlock it, check the status, and get real-time alerts and logs. The Secure Plus does not have voice control, however. Essentially, that’s what you’d be paying $50 more for to get the Secure Pro, or, if you needed that Brushed Gold color for your aesthetic.
It has that 3D Biometric Fingerprint sensor that grants access to up to 99 fingerprints, which you can manage in that app as profiles, and you can send eKeys, Offline, or One-time Access Codes like the other two locks can. What’s different is that the Secure Plus can be controlled with Bluetooth. When within range, you can lock, unlock, and configure wirelessly through Bluetooth without the need for extra hubs or equipment. It has a separate Wi-Fi hub that’s included.
Though there are consumer reports of the keypad not working in direct sunlight, Lockly does have a remedy to that. It’s their sun visor, which you can get directly from Lockly by contacting them, and they’ll send you an invoice for $9.90. While there’s no direct link for this, it seems that simply contacting their customer service (at the bottom of the page provided) is how to get started. So, if you do have a door that gets direct sunlight for most of the day, you may consider purchasing this hood outright, or purchasing the lock and seeing for yourself if you need the hood or not.
